Privacy Policy

This is a personal portfolio site belonging to Lasanthi Wijayathunge. It exists to share research, professional experience, and field writing — it is not a commercial service, and it does not try to identify or track who's reading it. This page explains, plainly, what little data the site touches and why.

What this site doesn't do

There is no analytics or tracking script installed anywhere on this site — no Google Analytics, no ad pixels, no third-party trackers. There is currently no newsletter sign-up, comment system, or contact form that transmits data anywhere; if a "get in touch" link is shown, it opens your own email client via a standard mailto: link, and nothing is sent through this site in the process.

Information stored in your browser

The site remembers one thing locally, on your own device: whether you've switched to light or dark mode, saved via your browser's localStorage. That preference never leaves your browser, isn't linked to you personally, and isn't visible to us in any way. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Third-party services

A small number of resources are loaded from outside providers so the site looks and works the way it's designed to:

• Google Fonts — typefaces are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Loading them means your browser makes a request to Google's servers, which — like any web request — includes standard technical information such as your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle that.
• External profile links — links to LinkedIn, Medium, ORCID, ResearchGate, and Instagram in the site's navigation and footer take you to those platforms directly. Each is governed by its own privacy policy once you land there; nothing about that visit is shared back with this site.

Hosting and server logs

Like effectively any website, the hosting infrastructure serving these pages may keep basic, short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps) for security and reliability purposes. This is standard web server behavior, not something this site configures or accesses directly, and it is never used here to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

This site does not set its own cookies. Any cookie behavior you encounter would come from the hosting provider or the third-party services above, not from anything built into the site itself.

Children's privacy

This site is a professional and research portfolio and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or links to changes in a meaningful way, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will reflect that.
